Introduction
Created in 1991 by the design post-degree students of Saint-Etienne School of Arts, the review Azimuts constitutes at the same time a place of thinking and exchanges about the actual issues of design, a field of graphic experimentations and a support of communication for projects. Its name suggests a wide and diversified approach of design. The team Azimuts imagine, indeed, design as a thought, as a method, rather than as a limited field: its potential is to intervene within numerous domains, to infiltrate the heart of a question, to bring in it an external look, to interrogate it, to interrogate it again to reveal what is not named.
With the aim of opening the debate, it welcomes the points of view of important persons in Design World but also external to this environment. Some designers got involved in the last numbers of the review, as Enzo Mari, Dunne and Raby, Konstantin Grcic, Martin Szekely, Jasper Morrison or Marcel Wanders, and at the same time persons as different as the philosophers Bernard Stiegler et Pierre-Damien Huyghe, the technology assessor Thierry Gaudin, the scientist Joël de Rosnay or the biologist Louis Marie Houdebine.
For each number, Azimuts appeals to a different typographer, who generously makes available to students a characteristic still unpublished, the last two of them being Thomas Huot-Marchand with his Minuscule, and Johanna Bilak with the Jigsaw.
